Communication

The FM 458-1 DP communicates via its PROFIBUS DP interface, which comes with the following features:

A consistent bus cycle time, meaning the PROFIBUS DP cycle remains exactly the same length at all times.
Isochronous operation, where the CPU, I/O, and user program are synchronized with the PROFIBUS cycle.
Slave-to-slave communication, allowing configured slaves to exchange data directly without requiring any extra configuration work on the FM 458-1 DP.
Routing functionality, enabling access to all nodes through a single interface—such as MPI (Multi-Point Interface) or PROFIBUS DP, and optionally Industrial Ethernet as well.
The ability to connect up to 100 drives from the SIMOVERT Masterdrives series or SIMOREG series per ring via the high-speed, fiber-optic SIMOLINK connection.
